From SDC's President—Robin Hill

Thank you for visiting the Southtown Dahlia Club's website. We encourage guests to visit our website, tell your friends about our Club, and join us in person at one of our monthly meetings.

Monthly Meetings: Crestwood Civic Center, 14025 Kostner Ave., Crestwood, IL 60445, generally on the 4th Sunday of the month, (with exceptions as noted in our calendar) 1:00 - 3:30 p.m.(updates -SDC Facebook Page)

SDC members learn from our programs which focus on growing, showing and propagating dahlias. Members work together to put on our Annual Dahlia and Plant Sale, and enjoy the company of like minded individuals at our Annual Club Picnic. We schedule garden walks at each other's gardens and other planned outings.

SDC's Community Involvement includes wowing the public with our dahlia bed at Lake Katherine Nature Center & Botanic Gardens in Palos Heights, Illinois. Together with the Central States Dahlia Society, SDC members mentor students in the Horticulture program at theChicago High School for Agricultural Sciences.

SDC hosts an annual Dahlia Show which is free to the public and provides a wonderful opportunity for families, gardeners, and photographers to become familiar with dahlias in a special way. Exhibitors from Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Michigan put on a spectacular show featuring blooms as big as a Basketball and as small as your pinkie.

Our season ends with an Awards Banquet recognizing the hard work of our members, and a November get together where we plan our goals for the future.

SDC is a member of the American Dahlia Society which consists of over 70 affiliate societies across the United States and Canada. Our mission is to bring one of Nature's most beautiful flowers to our communities, neighbors, families and friends--for their enjoyment as well as our own.

If you want to know more about growing dahlias, or are at a time of your life when you would enjoy spending time with others who share your interests, please consider reaching out to us at any time. You can attend any of our scheduled meetings held January through November or contact us via Gmail. Come and learn how to take your garden to the next level by being introduced to the variation of color, variety and blooms that dahlias provide from midsummer to late fall.

Again, thank you for visiting SDC's website. Hope to see you at our next meeting.
